Fight Against COVID-19: Conscious and collective effort

If one thought that;

Money can bribe the virus,
An athletic body can resist the virus,
And a human can propel ahead of the virus,

than probably, we need to re-think and re-consider our thought processes, habits and actions. A rich, an athletic [ considering him to be healthy as well] and the fastest man on the planet could not save himself.

While wishing him a speedy recovery and praying for his health, let us also invoke our inner self and re-look into our actions. Am i being responsible? How am i helping myself? For, at this juncture, one can only aspire to and excel in helping others if and if only one exceeds in self-assessing ones action in the first place.

We trudged through half of the year 2020; fighting and trying to contain the pandemic. A victory for now seems a catch-22; as it appears, is a far cry too, while conceding to the defeat is neither a choice nor an option.

While we all can pretend to be more philanthropic, qualified and capable, our endurance, dedication and collective action only shall withstand the test of the time.

Silhouette thoughts

A crescent bright moon
And the late night mellows

A deep soothing slumber
And the bygone tranquil moment

Astray wishful postulation
A chimera of ones desires

The Rinpung Dzong

The crimson cupola
On a silvery pedestal
With an obi-like penumbra dossal
Amidst the dead of night
Overlooking the tranquil Tshongdue.

The twinkles on the street
Proffering a scenic possie
To the titanic of fort
Amid inky covering
Embellishing the Majestic citadel

A strolling junky mortal
Awed by the panoramic locus
Sets aside the mundane life
Pleading the deity therein
For a momentary bliss

Life's Analogy

~LIFE'S ANALOGY~

The lonely tree,
And the wandering man,
Souls unlike, lives alike,
One's toxin, other's salvation.

The standing tree,
And the sleeping man,
Thoughts unlike, dreams alike,
One's kindle, others warmth.

The bare tree,
And the bald man,
Looks unlike, consequence alike,
One withers, other departs.

The arid log,
And the dead man,
Blazed unlike, embers alike,
One aids, other's extinct.

Force of Nature.

Sky getting noisy!

I can hear the clouds grumble,
Are they angry?
I can hear the clouds shout,
Are they frustrated?
I can hear them talk,
Did they come into terms with eachother?
I can hear them whisper,
Are they back from hybernation?

Oh no oh no,
They aint in terms,
Its getting louder,
Its not a bucket of water they gonna pour,
Its ball of hail stone,
Bigger than the checker ball,

Earth getting wet!

I can feel the dew drops,
Did the sky above pee?
I can feel the warm breeze,
Did the trees around exhale?

Oh yes oh yes

The  earth, sky and the trees,
They are all set,
Ready to fare well winter,
And well come spring,
 To begin with,
Here is the first shower of the year,
Bathing the sandy Ajmer,
Sipping through and through,
The sandy Rajasthan.

FAVORITISM: spell of prejudice

The tendency of liking other and disliking another, is nothing, but a way of life from time immemorial. Favoring a certain lot and discriminating another, has how generations’ passed and how it will pass. Least to blame the ethnicity, the color of one’s skin, the religion one practice and preach, the language one speak or the attire one adorn, everyone possess it, except for the difference of magnitude they exercise. It’s nothing sort of being born with, but how one grew up. The seed of prejudice was not something one inherited, but everything that conditioned our development. The world is cruel and so is the creatures.

It starts with liking someone over another, based on prejudice. Favoritism alone is like a honey bee, buzzing all over the field of flowers. The bee flies to the flower of its own like, sit, suck nectar and help the flower pollinate. Neither the bee will be blamed for engendering nor the flowers of infidelity. Favoritism can kindle happiness in one, so long as it is not accompanied by discrimination, it does not disturb an emotion of other.

Favoritism accompanied by discrimination is the worst to fear. It’s like a dog, trained to snarl and bark to one and wag to another. It has a tendency to cause misery to other and exude happiness to another.

It is inevitable considering the diversity. Diversity in individuals like, choice, preferences, thoughts, etc. Some will be liked for their intellectual capacity, athleticism, modesty, obedience, sincerity, etc. while some will be disliked for possessing those qualities. As diverse as human capabilities are, so are the preferences. Like “one man’s food can be another man’s poison”.

What does cause or instill favoritism in human beings? A primary cause without any denying can be prejudice.  And the secondary cause/s cannot be generalized, and better left to be defined with the tick of clock.

Thus to survive and soar in an environment/surrounding or to be preferred by all, the essence of living shall be adaptation. The character of a person cannot be seasonal, however the need of hour calls for it. Since one cannot deny susceptibility to the forces of favoritism and discrimination, an adaptability should be an option best considered.

Ode to my KING

The earth and its might,

Shook the world and crumbled hopes,

While the world saw chaos,

And felt the devastation,

I saw hope,

For my KING,

With his own hand,

Debris aside and dust clinging,

Built a fort of love,

And knitted a fabric of care.

The fire and it's flame,

Burnt the world and tarnished dreams,

While the world saw ashes,

And smelt smoke,

I was dreaming,

For my KING,

With his gentle blow,

Extinguished fire and smoke snuffed out,

Lit a lamp of dream,

Flared rays of love with aroma of happiness.

The wind and its gust,

Toppled the world and swiped the dreams,

While the world was smashed,

And breathe dust,

I was flapping,

For my KING,

With his stiff feet,

Anchored dreams and hoisted hope,

With love flapping and happiness whistling.
The water and its current,

Flooded the world and drowned hopes,

While the world was washed away,

And gulped water,

I was off-shore,

For my KING,

With his ocean of care,

Drained sorrows and watered hope,

With breeze of love,

Happiness thus restored.

The then state of mind.

One windy! evening,
All alone in a corner,

Crisscrossing the tired limbs,
And scratching the tainted arms,

Sipping over a tar like drink,
And chasing flies landing on the brim,

Staring at the people walking-by,
And swinging sight over vehicle passing-by,

As if to enumerate those,
Or else like a hungry dog,
Sniffing for a weak prey,

And deep inside,
the mind longing,
 For a peaceful week end!

The fault in it's star

I don't know,

Who planted me here?
Neither do i know,
Why i was planted here?
But all i know,
Is that i am not at all treated well.

With the droplets of spring,
I start blooming flowers,
If its not enough for my aesthetic aspects,
Bees swam all around,
I wish they were to enjoy my beauty,
Contrary to which,
My sweetness being sucked,
My youthful being taken,
And forcing me into parenthood.

I face the monsoon,
Standing firm on the cross-road,
I try to be strong, for i have hundreds of babies,
To feed and to tend.

I overcame the monsoon,
Walked into autumn,
My babies being grown up,
Their faces being tainted,
with autumn rays into red and yellow,
Beautiful they all look,
But the mankind fails to appreciate,
The hardship i took,
To grow them big and beautiful,
Instead, a boy comes hither,
Shoots me a stone,
Hits my red- faced baby hard,
A girl thither go,
Spins a broken branch,
Hits hard on my arm,
Takes my yellow-faced baby down,
And a man walks beneath my shade,
Takes a step backward,
And attempts for a flying kick,
The tremor of which,
Takes my other off-springs down,
An old lady walks,
Only wishing my babies to lose the grip of my hand,

My helpless babies,
On the ground,
Worrying of their turn,
To be picked, crunched and chewed,
With little mercy,
I am helpless,
Half of me tired of being hit again and again,
While other half, having to witness ill treatment of my offsprings.

I faced the autumn,
But little could i do to save me and my babies,
And, now i am left,
With little strength,
And few hopes,
To face the coming season,
The coldness of which,
I will be numb,
Or else killed,
To warm the in-humans,

letter to my Father-2

Dear father,

How is heaven treating you? I hope angels there treats you well! It has been so long since my first letter. By the way, a very warm father’s day wishes and you may consider the letter as a present.  First thing first, please accept my sincere apology for not being able to write you as I promised. You know? Your boy has been busy with job hunting then, and now after getting one, been busy trying to keep in pace with job responsibilities and obligations. Of all, your boy has now become more responsible as an employee, son, uncle, and brother. And, you may consider this news as a bonus gift on this especial day (kidding).

Finally, I got a job and I am working for a corporate office. I am happy with the job, indeed I enjoy every bit of it. So, with my employment, it is an official confirmation, that the burden of parenthood on you and Ama has been officially lifted, though it came little too late for you two to celebrate together.

Wait big man! Sorry the parenthood certificate is only for Ama for now, you still have a final task to complete. Do you know what it is? Ok! Let me remind you. Your two son is still unmarried, so you better find wives to your two sons. I don’t know about Ajo, but for me, I will go with your choice, for I need my kids’ to have a mother like mine.

I still remember the last thing you said though I was too young to realize then. Apart from escaping breakfast sometimes to reach the office in time, I am taking good care of myself. Anyways, I will not waste more of your time with my nonsense, you better take care of yourself.

Do not flirt too much with goddesses. I will tell Ama otherwise. Ha-ha

Good bye for now!

Your loving son.

The Introduction of slaughter houses in Bhutan and the criticisms

For quite sometimes, social media was flooded with public opinions of varying disparity against the introduction of slaughter houses. The loud echoes of unhappiness against it dwindled gradually or seemingly decreased, may be, for the government clarified to the public, it as an omission on the part of department of livestock or else, the Bhutanese kind-of-compassion is not perennial enough to quench the once voiced thirst of disparity.  But either way; be it government with its supposed superficial policy in introduction of slaughter houses or the public on their unhappiness on governments decision, both did not live long!

The government of the day didn’t admit it as one of their decision and instead blamed the department of livestock; maybe for having such policy or for having put that into public domain. But, the logic behind the birth of any policy, which is either governments initiative or with insights from the government, fails to substantiate the blame-game. If it so happened with departments own initiative and without any knowledge of the government, the precedence of bringing the accountable offices under the rule of law for bypassing the government or the cabinet had already been initiated with the surrendering of secretaries earlier this year, and should be no exception here.

On the other hand, the whiff of displeasure expressed either through media or at individual level faded with time, though obscene in it succeeded in pushing the government to clarify, at least. If, it is a genuine compassion and no political discernment, the need to voice discontentment is avoidable. The ban on sale of meats’ or compulsory closing of meat shops on auspicious months and days won’t have occurred only, if we are not fan of Sha kam pa, Sikam, Ma-ru etc. Also, upon insight about possibility of such policy, did any of us think of turning vegetarian? If, even one of us did think of turning vegetarian, the chances of functionality of such policy is minimum, and think! What if we all turn vegetarian? Definitely! Supply will cease if demand does.

If we (those who are against its introduction) in principle, carry pride in compassion and consider ourselves unpretentious Buddhist, keep aside the policy, even a constitution on introduction of slaughter houses will not see the light. Like a draconian tobacco act that didn’t last long, a superficial policy will not be an exception either.

Bhutan as a nation, whose foundation being laid by no other than Zhabdrung; a Buddhist master, should not, even in its wildest dream consider to trade the lives of less fortunate beings, even if it cost its very existence, keep aside the already defunct economy. In a Buddhist country, is the introduction of slaughter houses really sensible? Is it the only way to boost the economy? Is it the only way to stop the meat import? Is it the only way to stop rupee outflow? Or is it the only alternative? Or is it the only solution? Can’t we turn vegetarian? From a holistic perspective, imposing a higher tax on meat imports will be as sensible as imposing green tax. Isn’t taxing on meat imports equally viable as exporting meat to economy?

Every time we elect a party and entrust the power, we do with a hope that at least they would care the sentiments of the electorates, if not of the nation.   In a democracy, to woe an electorate is a daunting task, and by default, the policies and the system will incline towards it. But at the end of the day, five years regime of superficial policies and draconian acts to please a section of society won’t guarantee the ticket in the next.

Should we continue to blame the government for introducing slaughter houses or we blame ourselves for being meat lovers?

Time and its pace

The springs blossom
And the autumns fall
The summers shower
And the winters cold
Prompts nothing
But the TIME!
Its Change
And the impermanence

The baby shower
And the funeral rites
A mothers first milk
And the last privileged drink of lama
Prompts nothing
But the TIME!
Its Change
And the impermanence

The first kiss
And the last smile
The love at its prime
And the hatred at its height
Prompts nothing
But the TIME!
Its Change
And the impermanence

The dreams of yesterday
And illusions of tomorrow
The hopes for future
And the despair of past
Prompts nothing
But the TIME!
Its Change
And the impermanence

Why BCSEA should conduct class XII English-II paper examination again?

1. English mark is the must:
The eligibility criteria for the scholarship demands pass in english with no less than 50/55 marks. Also in calculating the percentage or grade point, English mark is must . With its status prioritized and position ascertained, I don't understand how and why they came with such pitiable decision at its height.
2. One cannot gauge students' performance in paper II from paper I's:
Paper I is more of individuals profiency in English language, where as paper II; more of subject understanding, analytical and comprehension skills from classroom teaching and learning processes based on prescribed syllabus. An intelligent and hard working student can do well in both papers, which many are not gifted with. An intelligent student may excel in paper I, hardworking and dedicated one may in paper II. In any assumptions, we cannot guarantee everyone possess both qualities (hard work and intelligence) while it cannot be exception that all don't possess neither of it.
It will be a blessing in disguise to those students who did well in paper I, but will it be fair and justifiable to those who did well in paper II, if ever the authority is to stick on their decision?

3. Current batch's performance cannot be based on statistics of past batches performance:
We can use data's for comparisons, but cannot let it decide the fate of one another. If past years performance can reason current students ability, either or many of the factors taken into consideration should/must be constant. Unless it is the case of same teacher teaching same books to same group of students year after year under same conditions that are detrimental to such conclusions, the generalization of current students' performance from past years is not at all rational and acceptable.
Scientists experiment drugs on rats prior to labelling it as human medicine owing to its genetic/function similarities to us, whether it will give or take away its life? It's a gamble.
If so, why be concerned about quality of education? Consider those ideal conditions and ignore the odds.

4. Punish the perpetrator (s), not the innocents:
Why someone's evil act has to decide the fate of thousands? Seive out those wrongdoers and act onto those responsible and spare those innocents. Why punish those innocents for the act they has no role at all.
PASSING IN CLASS XII IS NOT ONLY A MILESTONE OF ITS KIND, BUT A ESSENTIAL FACTOR IN DECIDING AND SHAPING ONES FUTURE.
P.S. Reasonable or not reasonable, it's nothing more than my opinion.

"Only way forward"

By then I was too hopeful, that, come 2015, it will be a year with endless happiness. Together with bit of jest, I wished early 2014's exit. But now, even after the grand entry of year 2015 in my life and along my journey, it failed to bless me with happiness and love that I anticipated too long.

Every where I look, and in everything I happen to be a part of, I see lucks fading. when I already started hating the dawn of the year,I am certain that dusk of the year won't be adorable either. But then, if I were to hate and frown till the end of the year, it will be a task as tiring as finding a luck itself.

So here I propose a toast, to the year and all happenings against my luck and wishes; counter my dreams with failure, it will only keep my motivation high and I will never retreat!

Happy New Year 2015

A brand new year
And a brand new hope
Love your loved ones a little more
Had you loved too little
Care your cared ones a little more
Had you cared too little
Pray for happiness a few more times
Had you prayed so few
Say sorry, ask forgiveness
To your mistakes
Leave the bitter yesterday
Work for better today
And wish for perfect future
A new dawn, a new hope
May the journey of life
Get illuminated by itself
As we celebrate
With free mind and open heart
And well come new year
Happy new year 2015

Rafting over Pho Chu

The day as expected was pleasant. Had it not been for the sunny day, we would have missed the thrilling experience or might not even have embarked the adventure in the first place only.

My brother and his friends have planned for a week end rafting adventure and no sooner did I hear his plan, I asked if I can join them as well. I was so happy and excited, that he considered my request and that, finally I will get to fulfill one wish from my wish list.

We began our drive towards the starting point, upstream of Phochu, Samdingkha in a hired cab. It took almost 30 minutes to reach there from Khuruthang town. Fourteen of us had to wait for another 30 minutes or so for the raft and the tour guides to return from the early trip.

Finally, the team arrived with the rafts and we followed them to the bank. While they pumped and set the raft for our thrilling trip, we readied ourselves wearing safety head gears and life jackets. I didn’t know who wore the life jackets on an earlier trip, but the smell and the deodorant seemed too strong; even to a sinusitis, and all joined to second the fact (including the tour guides, for they gave stingy smile over our say, lol).

Now, with rafts ready and rafters camouflaged with red jackets and white head gears, we sit for the safety briefings from the tour guides and group formation. We had seven second and third timers from a group of fourteen; a sigh of relief that we can raft till the stoppage with less trouble or else, no trouble. We split ourselves into group of two; seven in each and set ourselves for safety briefings.

After making sure that all of us are well equipped with safety gears, all in place and properly fastened, he calls for our attention. His greetings were short, but precise and I was not surprised for I understood that it’s his one usual spell of his daily routine, which by now seemed well rehearsed and mastered.

First thing he did was inform us about the river difficulty/Grade of difficulty of the river we were set to raft. Phochu that day looks swollen and we were not surprised to hear it falls under grade 4, cautioning us to be careful and informed. The rivers were classified from grade 1-6, based on the level of difficulty in rafting.

We were told how to grip our feet’s inside raft? How to stay afloat with the live jacket? How to make use of the paddle and the safety rope, if at all unexpected things occur? How to keep calm, if at all you see yourself thrown out of the raft? And most informative was, how to read the guides command, like FORWARD meaning; to paddle, STOP; to stop paddling and HOLD: danger awaits you, stop paddling and hold yourself tight. “You all are my engine, and I am your steering. We all have to work as a team” this line of his sound so encouraging and affirming, that we will enjoy the raft and it will be one hell of fun. After a bit of paddling practice and synchronization, we were on board and off we set for the adventure.

The guide slowly pushed us towards the current and we maneuvered with paddle after his command. With the first Eddy at sight, all were tensed, except for the two guides and those second and third timers. Everybody maintained their composure and faced the eddy anxiously. On command, we made forward move and maneuvered towards a smooth flow were everybody engulfed a cool breeze to sigh over the first of many such rapids of its kind.

Our fear of rapids and currents dimed slowly, and started enjoying every bump the raft made with the rapids, and with the every splash of whitewater over our body, we were hungry of more rapids. Slowly all got accustomed to the rhythm of river and the fun part began. Next moment we hear the tour guide commanding STOP, we began our water fights wetting even the remotest and cornered body parts. The most enjoyable of all was the maneuvering through the rapids stretching from Punakha Cremation ground till the confluence of Pho chu and Mo chu.

Having successfully navigated through that stretch of rapids, we took a short break on the bank of the confluence. There we clicked some pictures with Punakha Dzong in background; some swam while others took rest over snacks.

And we resumed our adventure before making our final stop below Damchen resort. The day began well and ended well too. Though we were later informed of two casualties in the morning and in another incident; a man drowned in Mo chu, somewhere near Zomlingthang on the same day.

My Ama's collection

Here i share some flowers from my mother's collection. She loves collecting, planting and growing flowers, though little does she know about the flowers family and species. Also, i forgot few local  names that she knows and shared. I have just the description-less pictures.

Please name yourself and enjoy.

Thank you and hope you liked her collections.
